March 7th 2009 - FLW Tournament - Clear Lake
The Oregon Bass Team sent 4 teams down to California to compete in the FLW College Fishing tournament. The tournament consisted of 27 teams ranging from Pac 10 Schools such as Washington State and Arizona to smaller schools such as Chico and Sacramento State. At blast off, the conditions on the lake were very cold and foggy. By 10am the fog had burned off and the lake and it began to warm up.

Joe Cote and Josh Marthaller had much of their success using Senkos. The duo finished in 20th place, pulling in 5 lbs 12oz on three fish.

Carter and Ryan Troughton fished behind Rattle Snake Island for the majority of their day. They spent most of their time fishing a 200-yard stretch of rock piles, catching their fish on finesse worms. The two caught 4 fish for 9 lbs 6oz, putting them into 16th place.

Reed Fraizer and Ross Richards spent most of their day fishing banks on the southern section of Clear Lake. With only 45 minutes left to fish, the two had only caught 1 fish. While fishing the tules on the backside of Rattle Snake Island, the two caught four more fish before heading to weigh in. This brought their total up to 13 lbs 1 oz, putting them into 9th.

Marcus Johnson and Chris Stam started the day off well, fishing in 20 feet of water just south take off. Both spent the majority of their day throwing a purple RoboWorm over rocks. Chris pulled in one nice fish weighing in at over 5lbs. The two caught 5 fish for 15 lbs 4oz, putting them ahead of Arizona State into 4th place. With this bag, the two earned an automatic berth into the Western Regional Championship along with $3000 in prize money for the University and Club.

The next FLW tournament that the team will be attending is at Lake Roosevelt on April 18th.

The Oregon Bass Team started out the 2008-09 season with a tournament at Ten Mile Lake. With good weather and new members, there were high hopes for a good day of fishing. The day started off well for many of the 7 boats, with fish being caught mainly around wooded and grassy areas. Reed Frazier had the biggest bag of the day, catching two fish for 6.16 lbs. He also had the big fish of the day, a largemouth weighing in at 3.68 lbs. Joe Cote came in second with a bag weighing 1.66 lbs. The season will start back up in March with a tournament at Cottage Grove. We would like to thank the boaters from the Emerald Bass Club for their assistance in making these tournaments work.

Septemeber 21st 2008 - Texas
The Oregon Bass Team sent two teams to compete in the 2008 Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship. Carter, Ross, Joe, and Parks all qualified to compete and after three full practice days, both teams fished in a field of over a hundred. Lots of Texas bass were caught but only some measured up to the 14inch minimum for Lake Lewisville. In the end, Carter and Ross came in 58th place and Team Parks/Cote placed in 28th. The team owes a huge thanks to all the tournament sponsors as well as JB Cue and Scott Calwson. JB and Scott were kind enough to let the bass team borrow their bass fishing boats and JB even cooked up some mean southern BBQ! The Oregon Bass Team looks forward to next years competition.

June 1st 2008- Dorena Reservoir -
Season closed up well at Dorena were we had a full field show up ready to fish. Josh had himself a good day and weighed in the winning sack of fish on a swimbait pattern. Chris Parks finished in 2nd place with a 3 fish limit also caught on swimbaits. Joe Cote came in with big fish of 3-9oz, fending off Carter to secure his 2nd place finish in the 2008 season. Fish seemed to be caught blades, plastics and swimbaits. Congratulations to a good year on the water to all the members this year. Ross Richards, Carter Troughton, Joe Cote and Chris Parks will be representing the Ducks in Texas for the National Collegiate Championship this September. Good Luck to them. Also wanted to acknowledge the Emerald Bass Club and their members for their help this year, they made our tournaments possible, Thanks.

May 10th 2008 - Tenmile Lake -
After a cold spring the team hit Tenmile Lake finding that spring had finally arrived. Morning water temps at 56 degree looked promising as it was the warmest water the club has fished all year. As boats pulled into osprey point they seemed to be running a bit heavier than normal, a larger than expected waked pushed from the sides of the green crestliner boat aswell as a familiar ranger aztec boat. As the weights began to be tallied most members of the team weighted good sacks of fish. Carter came in second with 9lbs 8oz. His fish came on a variety of plastic baits. Chris Parks weighed in the days heaviest sack of green forms at 10lbs 15oz. He caught his fish on jigs & plastics. Looks to be a close battle for 2nd & 3rd. we'll see you at the season closer at Dorena.

April 26th 2008 - Mercer Lake -
The team returned to Mercer Lake for another go and it seemed to be even tuffer than last years disapointing tourney. The team only brought 3 fish to the scales and proved how tuff this lake can be. With a morning water temp of 51 degrees it seemed to lock the fish down. Chris Parks caught this 2 keepers on senkos in the first couple hours of the morning. As Joe never put this rod down all day and caught his big fish with an hour left in the tourney, rumor has it he was using his "special grub". Keep your line wet and we'll see at the next one. Looks to be a tight race to qualify for nationals!

April 6th 2008 - Fall Creek -
As this cold spring has put a hurt on the usual fishing conditions the team hit Fall Creek hard looking for a limit. Morning conditions proved to be quite chilly, 44 degree water at the dam seemed to dicated a long day. As the afternoon warmed we found 48 degree water in the arms and that seemed to be the place to be as nearly all the keepers were caught in the upper ends of the lake. Cranks, creature baits and jigs seemed to be your best bet. Perry Bass came in heavy with big fish of 3lb 12oz, the female fell victim to his grinder style of crankbait fishing. With a total weight of 5lbs 12oz, goodjob Perry Bass. We'll see you Mercer

March 16, 2008 - Cottage Grove Reservoir -
The bass team had their first tournament of the spring and encountered cold 47degree water. Even with these early spring condition the team was able to catch some quality fish. Carter Troughton came across a fierce lipless crankbait bite around mid-day, loading the boat in short order. He was also wrangled the big fish weighing in at 4.90. Locking in his first place victory. It seemed all fish were caught on a variety of baits throughout the day including, chatterbaits in open water, aswell as jigs, plactics, cranks and things of that nature. Good way to start off the spring opener. Good Luck at the next event.

October 21, 2007 - Ten Mile Lake -
The 2007-2008 Oregon Bass Team had their first tournament of the year at Ten Mile Lake. The tournament was great and the weather was even better. Eight anglers from the team showed up, which was great for the time of the year. Seven of the eight were able to bag atleast one fish. Chris parks was the winner on the day bagging 3 fish for a total weight of 7 pounds and 7 ounces. On top of winning he was also able to land the largest fish of the day at 2 pounds and 11 ounces.
The team also wants to give a thanks to the Emerald Bass Club for providing the boats for the anglers.

September 2007 - Lake Lewisville, Texas -
The Oregon Bass Club was able to send two teams to fish the FCS national collegiate championship in Lewisville, Texas including Chris Parks, Gregor Crowl, Tanner Messner, and Carter Troughton. There were 83 teams from accross the nation representing 48 different colleges attending the second annual FCS championship. The Oregon team found tough fishing conditions and one team was able to place 24th and the other struggled placing 62nd. The event was a great experience for the members of the team even though the fishing conditions were tough. The Oregon Bass Team would like to thank all of the sponsors and everyone that made it possible for them to attend the tournament. We look forward to fishing in the championship next year. Go DUCKS 2008.

June 2007 - Lake Oneida, New York -
Gregor Crowl competed in a single competitor tournament versus other Colleges. His first day he caught over 12 pounds of small mouth bass and went all the way to the semi finals. He won $5000 in scholarship money for U of O! Our next competition begins September 24 in which Gregor, Carter, Chris, and Joe are all going to Lake Louisville in Texas to compete against 48 other teams for the title of National Collegiate Bass Champions and thousands of dollars. Good Luck Guys and tight lines!

June 2, 2007 - Dexter Lake Tournament -
The first smallmouth tourney of the year went quite well for the Oregon Bass Team. With eight competitors, five caught limits and one other caught two. Chris Parks finished the year strong with yet another win. Grant came in second, and Marcus got third place with big fish, about a 3 pound smallie.

May 5, 2007 - Cottage Grove
Cinco De Mayo went pretty well for most of the guys as 6 of the 10 caught some bass. The day was beautiful and the lake was calm. The Oregon Bass Team caught the majority of their fish on plastics like senkos however there was a top water bite and a few caught on crank baits as well. Chris Parks took the win with about an hour left when he casted down a narrow channel and felt a tick-tick. BOOM! He set the hook and reeled in his big fish 3lbs 12ozs. Gregor Crowl caught a rarity at the "grove". His little bass was a spot! That about raps up the tourney, Tight Lines.
The University of Oregon Bass Club started winter term 2005. The goal of the club is to educate bass anglers and provide them with opportunities to practice those teachings in an atmosphere of friendly competition.
